YouTube Previews Review Comparison Tables in Ask YouTube

YouTube outlined a new way to navigate product reviews on September 23, 2026: Ask YouTube may organize video recommendations into a table, then allow questions to continue after a viewer opens a selected video. The announcement, part of Made on YouTube, moves some of the comparison work ahead of playback. It does not say that every product search will receive a table or establish a universal launch date.

YouTube says viewers already turn to creators for help choosing products such as phones and skincare. In the proposed search experience, Ask YouTube can organize recommended review videos into a table with product attributes and categories reflecting the viewer's preferences. Users would be able to compare that information before choosing a review to watch. The announcement describes tables as a possible search result, leaving room for other ways of displaying recommendations.

On the chosen video's watch page, YouTube says viewers can ask follow-up questions about the product. Johanna Voolich, YouTube's vice president of product management for viewer products, described use while on the move and voice questions while watching television. YouTube did not provide a complete device-by-device eligibility list for the shopping additions.

Search Engine Journal reported that the search and watch-page versions of Ask YouTube had different availability. At the time of the announcement, the search experiment was limited to some United States users searching in English, while watch-page questions were available in more countries and languages. Those existing access rules do not provide a complete eligibility list for the shopping additions.

YouTube has not explained in detail how it will select the videos in a comparison table or where it will obtain the product attributes displayed alongside them. It also has not specified the timing and full eligibility requirements for the shopping features. Viewers will need those details to establish whether they can use both the comparison table and the follow-up questions on their preferred device.

YouTube also announced Custom Feeds in the same post. Viewers will be able to create and save multiple Homepage tabs around their interests, routines or moods, such as documentaries or new do-it-yourself creators. The company plans to introduce that feature in the United States on web, mobile and television. It announced those access arrangements for Custom Feeds separately from the shopping tools.

YouTube has not published results measuring whether the shopping features increase purchases, change viewing figures for creators or improve comparison accuracy. Its announcement describes how viewers could find and question product reviews, with the full rollout scope and recommendation process still to be detailed.
