Amazon Ads Now Connect Shoppers With Service Providers

Amazon announced Sponsored Services on September 29, 2026, an advertising format that connects a relevant purchase or search with a service provider, then lets the customer pursue a call, quote or order within the ad. MediaPost also reported a connection with Yelp. Amazon plans to offer access in the United States, first through its advertising API and later through its console.

Amazon's example pairs a kitchen faucet with a plumber who can install it. The company says product and search information can help identify a customer's need, while a conversation inside the ad gathers further context. Amazon says it can prefill customer details, allowing the shopper to continue the service inquiry within Amazon.

MediaPost's account names product pages, purchase-confirmation screens and parcel-tracking pages as locations for the ads. It describes calling a provider or submitting a quote request through the placement, with Yelp supplying local-service connections. After a shopper submits an inquiry, the provider would still need to respond and agree on the work before completing a service.

Amazon's examples also cover restaurants. The announcement includes an Alexa+ conversation in which a customer asks for help ordering dinner. A sponsored restaurant appears among the recommendations, followed by a menu, an ordering interface and confirmation. Amazon uses the sequence to illustrate food ordering through the ad experience; it has not reported how often users complete that sequence.

Advertisers will use cost-per-outcome bidding with budget controls, according to Amazon. Its reporting specification includes impressions and clicks alongside outcomes, outcome rate, outcome type, spending and cost per outcome. The outcome type distinguishes actions such as a call, a request for an estimate and a food order. Those actions represent different stages of a transaction, so the total outcome count does not necessarily equal completed paid jobs.

Through the Unified API, advertisers will be able to create campaigns and manage business profiles, including a provider's name, category, description, services and geographic coverage. Amazon also lists webhook delivery to an existing customer-management or lead-handling system so providers can receive inquiries in the software they use to follow up with customers.

Eligible advertisers include service businesses in supported categories, their agencies and third-party marketplace partners. Amazon lists home services and restaurants, with additional categories planned. Its schedule calls for access through the Unified API in the fourth quarter of 2026, followed by the Ad Console in 2027. The company has not announced dates for every additional service category.
